Carlton 2s v Kelso
Saturday 29th July 2017
Kelso travelled to Carlton 2s on Saturday looking to continue to push for a promotion spot in the ESCA Championship.
With weather threatening Kelso batted first on a firm wicket, Greg Davidson (26) and Craig Adams (19) getting the away side off to a solid start before the latter fell looking to push the run rate. After a few quick wickets, Micheal Eckard (45) and Ben Grindell (23) were found at the crease, the pair putting on a solid partnership of 66. Strong power hitting from Mark Henderson (27) well supported by Peter Brunton (12) and Stewart Cessford (12) brought the innings to a close on 188-8 off 50 overs.
Kelso got off to the best possible start, Stewart Cessford (1-31) and Craig Adams (5-26) bowling emphatic spells to remove both openers inside the first 5 overs. Adams rattled his way through the middle order batsmen, leaving Carlton struggling on 77-7 after 29 overs before the rain came. With the game ultimately decided, the downpour proved to be too heavy for the game to be continued, Kelso ultimately winning by 51 runs on Duck Worth Lewis.
Kelso look to continue their fine form hosting Grange 2s next week at Shedden Park.
