Kelso v Grange
Saturday 3rd June 2017
On Saturday Kelso played Mazars Grange 2 away. With Kelso winning the toss and batting first on what was a very good pitch for batsmen. Sam McMahon (67) and Mark Henderson (29) built a platform before Sam was runout from a direct hit from the midwicket boundary. With the score 2-98 off 32 overs Michael Eckard lifted the pace up for Kelso playing some powerful shots that was easy on the eye with support from Dougie Wilson (22*). Eckard who came in with 17 overs left, pulled off an unbelievable 100 not out, bringing it up off the last ball of the innings. A.Appleton was the pick of the Mazars Grange 2 bowlers with figures of 2-31 off 10 overs with support of the Captain S.Davidson with 1-33 off 9 overs. Kelso made 242 off their 50 overs which was a par score on the good Mazars Grange pitch. Kelso got off to a flying start with the ball with Greg Davidson (3-31) taking 2 early wickets within the first 3 overs dismissing Mazars Grange opener and number 3. Mazars Grange L.Hill batted positively and scored a well constructed hundred where he carried his bat and was the foundation for the home team. Mazars Grange skipper S.Davidson (47) batted particularly well in the middle overs dispatching Kelso's tight bowling and steering the game back within the favour of the home side. C.Davidson (2-49) bowled well for Kelso dismissing the skipper and turning the game again. Despite his efforts Mazars Grange 2 proved to be to good on the day for Kelso winning by 3 wickets with 8 balls to spare. A great game of cricket all round that could have gone either way.
