Kelso v Gala

Saturday 26th May 2018

Kelso beat Gala by 8 wickets on Saturday in their ESCA Championship clash at Shedden Park.

Gala won the toss and elected to bowl first. Kelso, looking to impress the supporters at the annual KCC Farmers Lunch, got off to a flying start removing Gala opener J. Halls and number three F. Rutherford without troubling the scoreboard. N. Giofre (40) offered resilience with wickets regularly falling around him, however was eventually removed by M. Eckard (1-18) after a defiant knock. No other batsmen managed to really get on top of tight Kelso bowling, resulting in Gala being bowled out for 107 runs in the 48th over. Pick of the bowlers was S. Cessford (3-13).

After a slight wobble at the top of the innings, Kelso made quick work of the run chase. M. Henderson (19) continued his fine form with the bat, picking up length deliveries on his pads fluently. Overseas amateur pairing M. Eckard (48*) and T. Van Ingen-Kal (26*) then finished the game off in style in the 19th over with some impressive power hitting all over the ground, resulting in a Kelso win by 8 wickets. Pick of the Gala bowlers was N. McIntyre recording figures of 2-37.

The club would like to thank all the supporters, members, guests, staff and players involved for making the day such a fantastic occasion.
