Kelso v RHC

Saturday  18th June 2017

Kelso played RH Corstorphine at Shedden Park this weekend. Kelso won the toss and chose to field first on a softer then usual Kelso pitch. G. Davidson (3-34) struck second ball of the innings and dismissed 3 of the 4 top order batsmen. Kelso fielded dynamically and took some great catches in the field. S. Patterson bowled a good area and got the break through of RH Corstorphine's number 3 batsmen R. Thompson for a well compiled 54. S. Flett (25) and R. Taylor (28) compiled a nice partnership during the middle overs but Kelso restricted them with tight bowling and aggressive fielding. C. Davidson bowled particularly well in the latter period picking up 3 wickets, along with M. Eckard picking up 1-25 and C. Adams 2-29 off 9 showing great economical bowling. Through this great fielding display Kelso restricted the visitors to 179 all out off 49.3 overs. Kelso got off to a steady start with the bat before G. Davidson was dismissed for 16. Kelso then lost a few consecutive wickets with off spin bowler M. Haq doing a lot of damage early ending with figures of 3-22 off 8 overs. C. Adams batted sensibly for 23 and M. Eckard played well for his 34 but wasn't supported enough for Kelso to get to the total of 179. Unfortunately the tight bowling of the RH Corstorsphine spinners were to good for Kelso on the day as they were dismissed for 94 off 37.1 overs. A tough loss for Kelso but will bounce back next week to get back on track.
