Kelso v St Michaels

Sunday  28th May 2017

Kelso travelled to St Michaels in the Scottish Challenge Cup with a younger looking side then usual. St Michaels batted first on a very good pitch. The opening batsmen for St Michaels got off to a solid start and the St Michaels Captain scored a well constructed half century. Kelso bowlers pinned St Michaels back through the middle overs and this resulted in wickets. Youngster Murray Mason took 2-20 which were his first wickets for the Kelso Firsts which included the wicket of the South African overseas. Ben Grindell and Micahel Eckard were very economical and picked up 2 wickets a piece. The pick of the bowlers was Tom Grindell picking up 4-35 and taking wickets at vital times. Kelso's great bowling and fielding display ended with St Michaels all out for 130 from 34 overs. Kelso went into bat and a solid opening partnership of 53 by Greg Davidson (34) and Tom Grindell (12) built the platform nicely for Sammy McMahon (47*) and Michael Eckard (23*) to finish off the game with 8 overs to spare in what was a great display of positive batting. Kelso will now play their quarter final tie at home.
