Kelso v Dunnikier
Saturday 19th May 2018
Kelso fell short in their attempt to beat top of the table Dunnikier in a game that went to the wire.
Kelso skipper Mark Henderson won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch that looked to be batting friendly. The Kelso opening pair struggled from the outset with tight opening bowling, before all top three batsmen were removed without troubling the scoreboard. This brought in form South African overseas amateur Michael Eckard to the crease, who struck a fluent quickfire 61 to give Kelso some hope. However, a lack of support from other team members resulted in Kelso losing wickets at regular intervals and being bowled out for 92.
Kelso refused to roll over easily in the second innings, taking regular wickets from the word go. Craig Adams struck early with two wickets in quick succession, before Callum Davidson took another 3 in 5.3 overs. Unfortunately though for Kelso, this defiant effort proved not enough, with A.Yousaf (28) and A.Shafiq (34) building a strong partnership to eventually win the game by 3 wickets.
Kelso will look to bounce back on Saturday at home to Gala.
