Kelso v Carlton 2s

Saturday  27th May 2017

On Saturday Kelso played Carlton 2's at Shedden Park in the first annual Farmers Day. Kelso lost the toss and bowled first on a solid Kelso wicket. Opening batsmen for Carlton batted very well early before Michael Eckard (2-36) and Ben Grindell (1-29) picked up vital wickets. With the Carlton middle order looking to flourish Craig Adams picked up 3 wickets and all the Kelso bowlers pegged Carlton back to 209-9 off their 50 overs. With rain beckoning, Kelso got off to a steady start with Greg Davidson scoring a steady 18. Craig Adams was dismissed early with Carlton's opening bowlers swinging the ball and bowling tight areas. Sammy McMahon (45*) and Tom Grindells (6*) were batting positively and the game was well in the balance before the rain came which suspended play. Unfortunately with the lack of umpires both teams could not come to a mutual agreement and this resulted in Kelso loosing by 5 runs on Duck Worth Lewis. Kelso will be playing Grange away in an important match next Saturday.
