Kelso v Marchmont
Saturday 24th June 2017
Kelso played Marchmont Cricket Club away last Saturday. Marchmont won the toss and elected to field first on a grassy wicket. Kelso lost opener Mark Henderson early and Craig Adams was looking solid until he was dismissed for 15. Sam McMahon and Michael Eckard were just about to get going until McMahon was dismissed for 23. With the score 3-55 Kelso weren't looking in a great place but Michael Eckard (124*) and Tom Grindell (26) batted smartly together and built a partnership. After Tom was dismissed Ben Grindell (22) combined really well with Eckard to get the visitors total to 224-5 off 50 overs which was a huge score on a slow Marchmont outfield. Michael Eckard being the star for Kelso with an unbeaten 124. Kelso started off with a bang with the ball Stewart Cessford and Greg Davidson both striking early with wickets. The two opening bowlers finishing with solid figures of 2-19 and 2-15. Kelso had the home side 4-30 and were in control of the game for the full 50 overs. Callum Davidson was the pick of the bowlers with outstanding figures of 3-6. Michael Eckard, Ben Grindell and Craig Adams all bowled tight and this resulted in the home side being bowled out for 124 off 46.2 overs. A great all round performance for Kelso which will give them momentum for their home game next week.
