Sunday 25th June 2017
On Sunday Kelso played Morton at Shedden Park in the Cricket Scotland Challenge Cup. Morton elected to bat first on an outstanding Kelso wicket. Morton were very competitive early and weren't afraid to play their shots looking to dominate the Kelso bowlers. Callum Davidson and Greg Davidson both picked up 2 wickets each and bowled tight areas. Tom Grindell bowled really well in the final overs picking up 2 wickers also. Young Murray Mason showed his talent picking up 1 wicket and bowled a really tight line. The visitors ended with a competitive total of 211 all off 50 overs. Kelso started off positively with Tom and Ben Grindell batting aggressively together putting away the bad ball. Ben Grindell was dismissed for 17 but was looking very solid. Tom Grindell and Sam McMahon batted really well together rotating the strike and hitting the boundaries. Tom Grindell was dismissed for a well made 41 and McMahon was dismissed for 37. The game was left up to Michael Eckard (71*) and Mark Henderson (16*) who both looked calm at the crease and guided Kelso home in which was a classy run chase.
