Kelso v Gala

Kelso beat Gala by 67 runs at Meigle Park in the second Championship game of the season. Kelso were sent in to bat on a flat wicket and got off to a positive start with Greg Davidson flourishing again with the bat scoring 48 with assistance from overseas player Sammy McMahon (23). Sammy was dismissed in the 14th over when the score was 65-2. This brought overseas player Michael Eckard to the crease who scored a quick fire 40 to keep the runs flowing. Middle order veteran Stevie Patterson scored a well constructed 56, with excellent support by Ben Grindell closing out with 46 not out. N. McIntyre and J. Irvine were the pick of the Gala bowlers both picking up 2 wickets a piece. Kelso ended with a dominant score of 248-7. Gala got off to a reasonable start with the bat until Craig Adams dismissed opener K. Gallagher for 27. Callum Davidson was the pick off the Kelso bowlers picking up 3 crucial wickets which took the game away from Gala. Davidson ended with figures of 36-3 off his 10 overs. Overseas Michael Eckard bowled at an important time and ended with 39-2 off his 10. S. Patterson held up an end in the final overs of Gala's innings and finished with figures of 38-1 of 10. D. Gonaduwage was the pick of the Gala batsmen scoring 34 not out. Kelso's all round performance was to strong for Gala who finished with 182-8 off their 50 overs.
