Kelso v Gordonians
CS Challenge Cup Final
Sunday 15th August 16
Kelso lost narrowly to Arrowdawn Gordonians in this year's Cricket Scotland Challenge Cup Final held at Drumpellier CC.
Having lost the toss, Kelso were asked to bat first. Craig Adams and Tom Grindell got Kelso off to a solid start, before Jimmy Takos entered the fray and accelerated the run rate well. Craig eventually fell for a well made 49 and Jimmy a structured 35. Kelso gave themselves a chance for a late flurry having been on 100-3 from 30 overs, however good bowling restricted Kelso to 154-8 from their 40 overs.
In reply, Gordonians set about the chase in a positive manner, taking risks in order to score runs quickly. This gave Kelso chances and meant regular wickets were taken to stem the run flow. However one match winning innings of 59 from Gordonians' Sri Lankan player eventually handed them the victory by 3 wickets with 3.5 overs to spare.
The players would like to thank all of the support who came to Coatbridge to cheeer on the team. Kelso look forward to putting in another strong performance in this competition next year.
