Kelso v SMRH

Kelso CC played SMRH in their East Of Scotland Championship fixture over the weekend in Edinburgh. Captain D. Wilson lost the toss and were made to bowl, looking to make use of the overcast conditions.
The Tweedsiders got off to a favourable start with young opening bowler G. Davidson taking three early wickets with some superb swing bowling. They youngster managed to remove SMRH's top order in quick succession, putting the home side on the back foot. Kelso were able to take wickets in quickly with M. Hughes and B. Grindell pickup up a couple of wickets each respectively. SMRH were only able to manage 109 runs, with an outstanding bowling and fielding performance from Kelso.
C. Adams and T. Grindell began the innings well for Kelso by seeing off the new ball and opening bowlers. The Tweedsiders were able to keep wickets in hand and take the game deep with Kiwi M. Hughes (30) and S. Patterson (31) putting on a 60 run partnership with some intelligent hitting. Captain D. Wilson brought the game home for Kelso in what was an emphatic win for the cricket club beating the league leaders, scoring a handy 25* runs
